ANOTHER SPORT IS ON THE COMEBACK TRAIL. HORSE RACING. THE BELMONT STAKES WILL RUN ON JUNE 20TH, BEFORE BOTH THE KENTUCKY DERBY AND PREAKNESS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY. A GOOD SIGN FOR COLLEGE SPORTS IN THE FALL. NOTRE DAME PLANS TO BRING STUDENTS BACK TO SCHOOL AUGUST 10TH, THAT IS TWO WEEKS EARLIER THAN ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED. COLLEGE FOOTBALL CAN’T BE PLAYED UNLESS SCHOOLS ARE IN SESSION. NOTRE DAME SAYS IT WILL ENHANCE CLEANING, AND HAVE COVID TESTING, SOCIAL DISTANCING, MASKS, AND OTHER MEASURES IN PLACE WHEN THEY RETURN.

THE NCAA SAYS IT WILL NOT MANDATE OR PRESIDE OVER A UNIFORM RETURN TO PLAY COLLEGE SPORTS. THAT LEAVES START DATES TO SCHOOL PRESIDENTS AND STATE OFFICIALS. THE NCAA CANCELLED SPRING CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THERE IS STILL NO TIMETABLE FOR A RETURN. THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE COULD PLAY A ROLE IN HELPING DETERMINE A START DATE FOR FOOTBALL.
